We are often asked what the pediatricians role is in the process.
Here’s what we want you to know.
- When you are writing for a liquid medication ask the patient
if he/she has trouble taking medicine.
- If the answer is anything other than absolutely NOT, you should
recommend that the medicine is flavored.
- Ask the child if he/she would prefer (Grape, Bubblegum, Watermelon,
Apple, Orange, Banana, Cherry or Strawberry).
- Include the following note on the Rx below your instructions,
“Flavor this medicine in Grape” (or whatever choice
of flavor).
- Remind the patient to let the pharmacist know that you’ve
requested a flavor
- Sit back and rest assured that your patient will be compliant
with the prescription regimen
- If you ever have any questions, feel free to call us at 866-696-4578
